The President in India.
The Office of the President though important is largely ceremonial.
Functions of the President:
-Has powers to make regulations for certain Union territories.
-Appoints the Chief Minister and Lieutenant Governor of the National Capital territory of Delhi and the Governors of the states or Union territories.
-Establishes special councils to arbitrate on inter-state disputes.
-Nominates the twelve members of the Council of States.
-He is a member of the Legislature.
