Hence rivers dry up.(iv) Soil erosion caused by rapid run-off of rainwater accelerates deforestation.(v) Increase in global carbon dioxide build-up in the atmosphere causes global warming and green-house effects.(vi) There is the extinction of certain species of plants and animals.(vii) There is destruction of natural beauty.(viii) There is desertification.
