Ways in which human beings benefit from science and technology.
(i) Innovations in telecommunication that has resulted in internet, computer, mobile phones and electronic equipment.
(ii) Improved food production through mechanized
agriculture, discoveries and production of better seeds, fertilizers and pesticides.
(iii) Better nutrition, health care and medical services.
(iv) Better exploitation of natural resources.
(v) Developed efficient means of transport on land, air and seas. This
is made possible by invention of automobiles, aircrafts, boats and ships.
(vi) Improved efficiency at work due to automation and use of computers.
(vii) Better understanding and management of the environment, for example, weather forecasts, soil fertility, use of machinery in drilling water and oil, irrigation of crops and collection of garbage.
(viii) Population control and management through family planning methods.
(ix) Improvement in trade through use of computer technology.
(x) Better security systems through use of scanners, alarms and electrified fences.
(xi) Use of media technology in education and learning, for example, computers, internets, audio-visual tapes, equipment and satellite.
