The parable of the great feast (Luke 14:15-24)
Answer Text: While at the table a man was following his teachings and said to Jesus “How happy are those who will sit down at the feast in God’s Kingdom”. Jesus told them of a parable of a man who held a feast and invited some important people to attend .When the feast was ready ,the host sent his servant to inform the guests that the celebration was ready .The invited guests sent apologies and began to give excuses. The first one said that he had just bought a field and must see it .The other said that he had just bought five pairs of oxen and he wanted to go and try them .Yet another said that he had just got married and for that reason he was unable to attend. The host was so furious for this let down and was determined to have the feast on . He sent his servants to go to the streets and alleys of the town to invite the poor ,the crippled and the blind but the room was still not full .The master told his servants to go again to the country roads and lanes to call more people to the feast yet the room was still not full. Jesus concludes by saying the kingdom of God is like great feast, the Pharisees and scribes were first to be invited but they had failed to recognize Jesus’ mission.
