Answer Text:
- One Sabbath, Jesus was teaching in a synagogue. There was a woman who had an evil spirit that had kept her sick for 18 years. She was bent over and could not straighten herself.
- When Jesus saw her, he called out and said “woman, you are free from your illness” Jesus placed his hands on her and she was healed. She straightened herself and praised God.
- This raised a lot of critics from the Pharisees, who believed that no work should be done on the Sabbath unless life was in danger.
- However, Jesus criticized them saying that they were hypocrites if they could untie their oxen, donkeys and feed them on Sabbath but not do good to a human-being.
- They took care of the animals on the Sabbath but did not bother about those suffering. This showed that he had come to liberate people from rule of Satan.
