The Christian practice:
Choosing a marriage partner:
Although physical appearance may be an important consideration in choosing a marriage partner ,there are other qualities that are more important. The following are some general guidelines the churches give on choosing a marriage partner:
Commitment to one’s faith:
Churches advise Christians to marry fellow Christians.
Moral uprightness:
A young man or woman is encouraged to study the character of a possible marriage partner however, it is normally difficult to do this because while courting the man and the girl tend to be on their best behavior.

When looking for a marriage partner, it is important to find out if there is common interest. When people differ in their perception of issues, this can lead to unnecessary quarrels and tensions.

For a marriage to be stable, it is important for the man and the woman to show commitment in providing for the family in terms of leadership, shelter, food, clothing, education, health-care and security.

The socio-economic status refers to the cultural background, education status, religious background and the financial status of those intending to marry.
Education:
The education level of prospective marriage partners is also an important
consideration. When there is a great education disparity between the two, there may be a communication breakdown between the two people.
