Answer Text:
Importance of a Monogamous Marriage over a Polygamous Marriage.
-Monogamy provides a healthy and peaceful environment in which to bring up children and provide for them adequately. In contrast, in a polygamous marriage, there is jealousy and quarrels among co-wives and their children particularly where some feel that they are discriminated against by their husband and father.
-In a monogamous marriage it is possible for a wife, husband and children to experience love and care which is not possible in a polygamous marriage.
-It is only in a monogamous marriage that married partners can achieve complete intimate oneness of “becoming one flesh”. This is in contrast with a polygamous union where the wives compete against each other to please the husband.
-God’s original plan of marriage for companionship is only possible in a monogamous marriage than a polygamous one. Polygamy subjects women to subordinate positions.
-It is easier to achieve complete faithfulness and trust in a monogamous marriage than in a polygamous one. In a polygamous marriage the husband might not be able to
fulfill conjugal obligations to all his wives.
