The parable of the wicked tenants (Luke: 20:20 9-18)
Answer Text: After being questioned about his authority of teaching, Jesus told them the parable of a man who planted a vineyard and let it out to tenants when the time for the harvest came ,he sent his servants to the tenants that they should give him the fruits of the vineyard. But they beat him and sent him away empty handed. And he sent the second servant whom they beat and treated shamefully. He sent a third one whom they also wounded and cast out. Then the owner of the vineyard decided to send his own son for he thought they would respect the son but they beat him up and killed him. Jesus then posed this question to them “what then will the owner of the vineyard do to them?” He will come and destroy those tenants and give to others. They answered “God forbid”, but Jesus told them that “the very stone which the builders rejected became the head of the corner” The parable simply means how the Jews rejected God’s prophets and how they will kill him. In this parable, - The owner of the vineyard is God.- The vineyard is Israel and the tenants are the Jewish leaders.- The servants who were beaten represent God’s prophets. - The son of the owner of the vineyard represents Jesus.- The death of the son represents the kind of rejection that Jesus was going to face in Israel in the hands of Jewish leaders.
