Answer Text: Traditional African and Christian response to unfaithfulness as a family problem:-Unfaithfulness occurs when either a husband or wife is involved in extra-marital sexual relationship outside marriage. -When this happens the offended partner feels betrayed. It causes suspicion and mistrust and bringsuntold suffering to all members of the family. -Unfaithfulness is one of the causes of family breakages today.- Unfaithfulness in traditional African communities is discouraged.- Those who are known to be unfaithful are defamed through songs or isolated from communal gatherings and activities. -Adultery on the part of the woman is enough ground for divorce.- In some communities heavy punishment is imposed on the adulterous man. For example, he may be asked to pay a heavy fine in form of animals.- The culprit goes through various rituals and offers sacrifices in order to be cleansed. -Christianity does not condone unfaithfulness. -The Bible teaches that married couples are expected to remain faithful to each other for the rest of their lives.- It teaches against adultery, which is forbidden in the ten commandments: “You shall not commit adultery”.- The church advocates for a monogamous marriage in order for the man to give individual love and attention to his wife and children.
