Traditional African and Christian response to diseases and sicknesses, as a problem related to family
Answer Text: Traditional African and Christian response to diseases and sicknesses, as a problem related to family.-Diseases and sicknesses are challenges to many families. For example, diseases like HIV and AIDS have wiped out some families and many children have been left as orphans.- Prolonged sickness may necessitate the sick person being taken care of and sometimes being fed on a special diet which the family may not be able toprovide. -The traditional African response to diseases and sicknesses takes various forms.- Every sickness is attributed to something or someone. -When a person becomes sick either, local herbs are used to treat the patient or, a medicine-person is consulted to diagnose the sickness and prescribe thecorrect treatment. -Some of the treatment the medicine people may prescribe include: herbs, a religious ritual and observation of certain taboos.- Christian respond to sickness and diseases by seeking medical and health-care from hospitals, health centres and dispensaries.- Some of these hospitals, health centres and dispensaries are run by different churches and provide subsidized medical services to the patients.
