This is the family which extends beyond the nuclear family to include grandparents and other relatives.
It has often been presumed that extended family has some advantages:
-The members form a wider pool to serve as resources.
-There are more role models to help perpetuate desired behavior and cultural values.
-The extended family members tend to gather often for family events and they feel responsible for helping and supporting one another both emotionally and financially.
