Answer Text:
Decision making as a life skill:
Decision making is the process of making up one’s mind in order to reach a conclusion or a resolution. It involves making a choice among several options. To make any decision we require accurate information, knowledge and the will to take action. In everyday life, we make decisions all the
time. Such decisions may include the following:
-Should I go to school or stay at home?
-Should I go out with my friends or shall I go to the library and revise for my examination?
-What kind of career should I choose?
-What kind of friends should I keep?
In the story of creation, we learnt that both Adam and Eve made a decision that was going to affect the whole of the human race. When they were tempted by Satan to eat the fruit of the forbidden tree they chose to disobey God and fell into sin. During the temptations, Jesus made decisions not to fall into the trap of the devil. He used the power of the
scriptures to defeat the devil. Making certain decisions require courage and insight. Every decision made has its positive or negative consequences. Some decisions made may have a long term social, emotional, psychological and spiritual consequences. Decision making can contribute to the creation of a just society. For example, if good decisions
are made by the government leaders and politicians, they are likely to bring prosperity and peaceful co-existence among people.
