Escarpment as a type of relief.
- A relatively continuous line of steep slopes facing the same direction
- Has two slopes: a long gentle slope (dip slope) and short steep slope (scarp slope).
- On maps, scarp slope is shown by close parallel contours upslope and fairly well spaced contours downslope (dip slope)

- A high flat land bound by steep slopes.
- Ahigh area of flat land shaped like a table (tableland)
