Homosexuality:
Homosexuality, also known as sodomy, refers to sexual intercourse between a man and fellow man. The same kind of the sexual relationship between a woman and another woman is called lesbianism. Some cultures have tolerated or even institutionalized it. Others have ignored it while
still others have penalized it or attempted to suppress. Biblical references to homosexuality are few. For example the Old Testament condemns sodomy as a pagan practice that God abhors. “No man is to have sexual relations with another man; God hates that” (Leviticus 18: 22).
The Mosaic Law goes on to prescribe the death penalty for the offenders when it states: “If a man has sexual relations with another man, they have done a disgusting thing, and both shall be put to death” (Leviticus 20:13)
The New Testament has three references in which homosexual practices (sexual perversion) are
condemned (Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; 1 Timothy 1:8-10). Saint Paul makes a list of the types of persons who are regarded as “unrighteous” and “ungodly” and among them are homosexuals and lesbians. He states that such people will not enter the Kingdom of God. He condemns homosexuality as being an act that is contrary
to natural order of things and incompatible with God’s teaching. He concludes that those who engage in these evil practices are facing God’s judgement on their sinfulness of practicing idolatry.
