The call of Levi:Jesus was passing by and he saw a tax collector named Levi, sitting at the tax collectors office and he told him to follow him.Luke brings out the element of the man being a tax collector because tax collectors were known to be corrupt people who took more than was required . The tax collector left everything and followed him. Sometime later Levi made Jesus a great feast in his house and many tax collectors came. And the Pharisees and the scribes murmured against Jesus sain “Wh do ou eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners.” Jesus answered them by saying; those who are well do not need a doctor. By this, Jesus meant that he came for the sinners and outcasts and not for the righteous. Here Jesus mixed with sinners (tax collectors) which was not the Jewish expectation.
