Four classes intend to visit a weather station near your school to study the instruments for measuring weather elements:-
(i) Describe how you would use a rain gauge to measure rainfall
(ii) Name two instruments you would find inside a Stevenson screen

- A rain gauge consists of a funnel, metallic cylindrical container and a collecting jar.
-take the rain gauge to an open space to prevent water from dropping in to the funnel, then sink it to the ground to prevent evaporation and leave the funnel 30cm above the ground to prevent splashes and run off water from spilling in.
- When it rains, water from direct rain drops collects into the jar through the funnel
- The water collected is then poured into a graduated (in mm) measuring cylinder.
- The readings taken & recorded.
ii) - Thermometers ;six thermometers, maximum and minimum thermometer .
- Hygrometer.
