Answer Text: Irrigation Schemes in Kenya: Mwea-Tebere Irrigation Scheme- Located in Kirinyaga district in central region in Mwea plains on the foot of Mt. Kenya.- Started by the colonial government early 1950’s.-covers an area of about 10,000 hectares.-the water used in the scheme comes from three main rivers which are tributaries of river Tana.Namely: River Thiba, Nyamindi and Murubaru.-it is divided into four blocks/sections:mwea, Tebere, Thiba,Wamumu.-The Main Crop grown is Rice.
