Human rights refers to the accepted principles of fairness and justice- or the universal moral rights that belong equally to all people in their capacity as
human beings regardless of sex, race, and tribe, and language, place of origin, age or political beliefs.
Why human rights are important.:
a) Rights are necessary for human beings to achieve a dignified life, fulfill their potential and to satisfy both their physical and
spiritual needs.
b) Rights are inherent to human beings. One has rights purely because they are human.
c) Rights empower citizens and residents by giving them control in decision making organs of the state.
d) Rights justify special treatment of minorities and other special or disadvantaged groups or communities.
e) Rights provide guidance to organs of state regarding the exercise of state power.
