(a) Penetration power

(c) ionization effect of radiation
- alpha particles have very high ionizing power. They produce a large number of ions as they pass through gases due to their slow speed and high charge.
There slow speed enables the alpha particles to be in contact with target atoms for a longer time. Beta particles have a lower ionizing power to produce
fewer ions in gases.
Gamma rays have very low ionizing power.
