Advantages of hard water
(i). It is good for drinking purposes as calcium ions contained in it helps to form strong bones and teeth.
(ii). When soft water flows in lead pipes some lead is dissolved hence lead poisoning. However when lead dissolves in hard water
insoluble #PbCO_3# are formed, coating the inside of the lead pipes preventing any further reaction; this reduces any chances of lead poisoning.
(iii). It is good for brewing and the tanning industries; it improves wine or beer flavour in brewing industries.
