The temptation of Jesus:
Soon after the baptism, he was led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness he was tempted by the devil and he stayed there for 40 days. At the end of 40 days, Jesus was hungry. During the time that he was in the wilderness he was being prepared for his ministry.
Jesus was tempted in 3 ways by the Devil. First, the devil told him since he was hungry and he is the Son of God to turn stones into bread. He responded by quoting the scriptures that ‘it is written that man should not live by bread alone’. Even though Jesus had the power to turn the stones into bread, he did not do so because that would mean misuse of divine powers.
In the second temptation, Satan took Jesus to the top of a high mountain and he showed him all the Kingdoms of the world and told him that he would give him all its wealth if only Jesus would bow down and worship him.
