The preaching of John the baptist:John began preaching in the area around River Jordan. He came in the spirit of Elijah as the Jews believed that Elijah would appear before the Messiah. The following was the preaching of John the Baptist.(i) He preached a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sin.(ii) He told people to be faithful and obedient to God and not be proud of Abraham as their ancestor. (iii) He warned them of God’s punishment on sin or God’s coming judgment.(iv) He preached social justice eg. -Encouraged the rich to share with needy.-He told the tax collectors not to collect more their required. -He told the soldiers to be contented with their wages and stop greed.-He also told soldiers to be faithful and stop accusing people falsely.-He told them that the messiah who was to come will be mightier than him. -The messiah will baptize people with fire and holy spirit. -The messiah will separate good from evil and evil would be punished......
