The annunciation of the birth of Jesus (Luke 1:2638)In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent Angel Gabriel to Nazareth to a virgin betrothed to Joseph of the house of David.-The Angel after greeting her told her that the lord is with her and she is highly favoured among women.-Mary was deeply troubled about the Angel’s message of being favoured.-Angel told him that(i) She will bring forth a son who would be named Jesus.(ii) He would be called the son of the most high God.(iii) He will be great. (iv) His kingdom will last forever.(v) God will give him the throne of his father David.-Mary asked one Angel how it could be possible yet she was a virgin and angel told him that she will conceive by the power of holy spirit.-The Angel informed him that her relative Elizabeth was also pregnant at her old age.-Mary said that she is God’s servant and let the will of God be done. -The Angel left her.
