Ole kaelo surprises his family by ushering them into their new homestead on top of a hill. We are also given a flashback of how Mama Milano got married to Parsimei while she was only eighteen and Kaelo was twenty four years old.
Even though she acknowledges that Ole kaelo loves her, Mama Milano feels she has failed him for not giving him sons that he had so much looked forward to having. But she also knew it was not too late.
As Ole Kaelo unveiled the object of his magic, the whole family are stunned and are hardly able to believe their eyes. They come to realize that the new house was a replica of their former flat in Nakuru.
Through the use of dialogue, we realize the girls’ dread being forced to conform to their culture, which according to Resian is archaic. She implores Taiyo again to convince their father to allow them go back to Nakuru and study in the University.
