-Administer peace keeping operations and mediate international disputes.
-Survey economic and social trends and problems
-Organize international conferences on issue of worldwide concern.
-Monitor the extent to which the decisions of the UN bodies are carried out.

-Implement policies laid down by other organisations
-Draw the world’s attention to global issues, from development to human rights-e.g. environmental conservation.
