State the characteristics of direct rule in southern Rhodesia.
Answer Text: -There was large number of European settlers.-For a long period of time, the colony was administered by colonial company (BSAC)-The Europeans had developed a belief that the colony was pre-ordained to be white settler colony.-Most administrators in the colony were Europeans-Locals rulers were undermined with Europeans who took up subordinate positions-European acquired large tracts of land thus adopting measures to compel Africans to provide labour.
