-Increase in volume of trade with their neighbours.
-Brought about intercommunity conflicts and wars over land for cultivation and grazing.
-Inter-married with the Nandi resulting to a new dialect, the Teriki.
-Cultural borrowing and adoption. The Abaluhya adopted the Kalenjin system of age-sets and initiation.
-Exchange and adoption of economic activities. The Nandi land crop cultivation from Abaluhya while Abaluhya adopted pastoralism from the Nandi.
-The nilotes learnt the knowledge of iron smelting from the Abaluhya.
