Explain five factors which led the colonial government to ban the Kenya African Union (KAU) in 1953.
Answer Text: -They wanted KAU to fail in their demand for self-government for Kenya.-They did not like the demands of KAU for constitutional changes that would lead Kenya to independence.-Demands such as land reforms, abolition of kipande system, better educational facilities for Africans were against colonial policies in Kenya.-They feared militarism and rapid expansion of KAU membership under the leadership of Kenyatta.-KAU was a real threat to the dreams of settlers making Kenya a white man’s country.
