-They wanted KAU to fail in their demand for self-government for Kenya.
-They did not like the demands of KAU for constitutional changes that would lead Kenya to independence.
-Demands such as land reforms, abolition of kipande system, better educational facilities for Africans were against colonial policies in Kenya.
-They feared militarism and rapid expansion of KAU membership under the leadership of Kenyatta.
-KAU was a real threat to the dreams of settlers making Kenya a white man’s country.
