1. There are three types of weathering namely:
a) Mechanical weathering
b) Chemical weathering
c) Biological weathering
1. Mechanical Weathering
- Physical break up of rocks without change in their chemical composition.
- It is responsible for the breakdown of parent rocks into smaller fragments
- Takes place in various ways (processes) some of which include:
a) Block disintegration
b) Exfoliation
c) Granular disintegration
d) Pressure release
e) Frost action
f) Crystal growth
g) Slaking
