The approval of parliament is mandatory for all government expenditure.-Approves government budget and ways of raising money.-Directs the government/foreign policy and keeps development programmes on track.-Checks the powers of the executive to ensure that the rule of law is maintained. It can pass a vote of no confidence.-House of Lords sits as the final court of appeal mostly in simple cases.-Discusses/Debates issues of national importance/interest.
