-Parliament discusses and makes laws. It also amend laws when need arises.
-Controls government expenditure. The approval of parliament is mandatory for all government expenditure.

-Directs the government/foreign policy and keeps development programmes on track.
-Checks the powers of the executive to ensure that the rule of law is maintained. It can pass a vote of no confidence.
-House of Lords sits as the final court of appeal mostly in simple cases.
