-Population increased due to improvement in medicine.
-Poor planning in urban centres became evident i.e. resident house/factories were built together.
-Poor living and living conditions. There were no toilet facilities or clean water, this caused disease.
-There was widespread of pollution from factories waste.
-There was rural-urban migration-people moved to look for jobs.
-Crimes increased due to unemployment in towns.
-Poverty led to begging in the streets.
